:)The Pea Blossom Illustrated by Amy Lowry Poole
What attracted me to this book first was the expressions on the peas faces on the front cover. I felt like I could tell what they were thinking by their expressions.
I think the illustrations are just beautiful. I especially like how you can see drawings of creatures in the tree and under the ground. And how the growth of the pea plant coordinates with the young girl growing stronger and getting well. I think the shades of green also help tell of story of growing in the story too.
The illustrations in my opinion do a very nice job of telling the story too. Whether this will be in my final list it is too early to say yet.
Has anyone else had a chance to look at this one?

I read it yesterday. I like the book. The illustrations have that untrained, folk-art quality. Having said that, I wish she had done more with perspective. I think her use of color works well.
