Red Fox at McCloskey's Farm by Brian Heinz and illustrated by Chris Sheban is just an absolutely beautiful. I love the expressions on the animals' faces. You can just read their minds by looking at their faces. I love how the fox's dreams are pictured as chicken clouds. The pictures certainly tell the story very well. Yes, I know this title is no on the list but I think it should be.

Hey, Genie! Thanks for the vote of confidence on "Red Fox at McCloskey's Farm," one of my three new picture books released this past fall. I'm the author, Brian Heinz from Wading River, NY. I agree that Chris Sheban's illustrations are remarkable in creating a haunting nighttime mood for Red Fox's foray onto the farm. His compositions, palette, and use of light are dramatic... and the body language and expressions of the characters are laugh-out-loud funny. No wonder he has received both a gold and silver medal from the Society of Illustrators, as well as a Golden Kite Award.
