This is a fascinating book. Except for the title, there are no words. And if you go to their website: www.bow-wowbooks.com, they use very few words there also. It's comic booky, but not. There are no word balloons. It's all the pictures and action. I cracked up over the butt sniffing page. And love the bugs imitating the dogs. It has fun end pages, neat perspective of the large dog, large bug, then the small dogs and large bugs. It's simple and colorful, and you can really follow the story. What do others think?

I looked at this book at the ALA conference in DC last week and wished I had been staying longer so I could buy it when the publishers are trying to lighten the load for the trip home.
A surreal tale told through pictures. I am a fan and would like to hear what others think.

I also like the book. It will be great to share with children. It is my favorite of the year so far. But do you think this could be a real contender for the Caldecott?

I think the illustrations of the dog and then the dogs are done very well especially how the movement is done (how the illustrations make the dog appear to move). And, I do think it is very cute where the bugs imitate the dogs. If I hadn't read the title though I wouldn't have had any idea what the black spot was and thus the book puts me off. For me the black spot needed to have an eye and legs all the time. It just looked weird to me to see a spot following a dog around. And, then why would a woman jump because a spot was on her. This title doesn't make my favorites' list.
